The Evidence and Collaboration for Inclusive Development (ECID) is a 3 years governance project Supported by UKAID (FCDO) through Christian Aid (CAID) to build the effectiveness of civil society in accessing, gathering and presenting data on the most marginalized in accessing Education in Kaduna State. The data gathered empowers the marginalized groups to engage with service providers and on the other hand, government responds adequately. The ECID projectis targeted at Jaba and Kubau LGAs.
The project focuses on Poor Rural women, Adolescent Boys and Girls and Persons with Disabilities.
Achievements and Impact
- Project (Rehabilitation of block of 2 classrooms and construction of block of 3 classrooms) that has been abandoned for over a year in Gidan Kundi, Jaba LGA is now ongoing as contractor has gone back to site.
- Persons with Disabilities in Jaba LGA now better informed and demanding for adequate access to worship centers.
- Association of poor rural women in Kubau LGA better organized and are engaging service providers
- Target groups now have a voice, and are leveraging on established safe spaces to discuss issues around harmful cultural practice in their community.
Capacity of local partners at community level (poor rural women, adolescent boys & girls, Persons with Disability, Community Based Organizations) enhanced to mobilize and train facilitators and support the setting up of Gender Empowerment and Development Organising Resource (GEADOR) safe spaces in their focal LGAs.
