Our projects
Our organization is involved in numerous projects & Interventions
LANW has provided free legal aid and counseling services for victims of human rights violations, especially women, and vulnerable groups. Most of the issues involve domestic or gender-based violence, paternity disputes, lack of parental care, matrimonial disputes, and other social disputes.
Education
Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Nigeria’s Education Sector (STATNES) is a three year project (2018-2020) supported by MacArthur Foundation. The Strengthening Accountability and Transparency in the Education Sector (STATNES) project seeked to improve accountability in the use of Universal Basic Education (UBE) funds managed by State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Kaduna State.
Politics
LANW with support from NDI implemented the Stop Violence Against Women in Politics (VAWIP) campaign for duration of four months (November 2018 – February 2019). The Stop-VAWIP campaign worked to ensure that immediate services are available for VAWIP survivors who may not otherwise have access to the social and legal assistance they need. The program also addresses the gender data gap and strengthens the capacity of domestic election observers to recognize, monitor, mitigate and report violence in Kaduna State and also built the capacity of the observers on how to mobilize and engage.
Awareness
The Strengthening Citizens’ Engagement in Electoral Processes in Nigeria (SCEEP) funded by UK Aid and Action Aid Nigeria ran from 2014 –July 2018. The project focused on improving Nigeria’s electoral processes and the engagement for women, young people and people living with disabilities in the electoral process.
Leadership
The Evidence and Collaboration for Inclusive Development (ECID) is a 3 years governance project Supported by UKAID (FCDO) through Christian Aid (CAID) to build the effectiveness of civil society in accessing, gathering and presenting data on the most marginalized in accessing Education in Kaduna State.
With support from NIGERIA STABILITY AND RECONCILIATION PROGRAMME (NSRP), LAWN implemented a project in Zaria and Kaduna South LGAs building knowledge and skills to deal with gender based violence issues from 2014 – 2017. Peace clubs set up by LANW
With support from DFID – Voices 4 Change (V4C) this project sought to strengthen the enabling environment for gender equality in Kaduna State and Nigeria by combining learning from development, learning from communications, behaviour change and social marketing approach.
Christian Aid supported LANW to pilot its Voice to the People project in Kaduna State in 2016. The V2P Project focused on mobilising, sensitizing and equipping Communities to engage Local and State actors demanding for their Rights, participating in budget oversight and monitoring service delivery.
Funder: United Africa Fund
This project involved the review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform + 25 in Kaduna State with the production of a Shadow Report. The review process provided an opportunity for stock-taking of the progress achieved, gaps remaining, challenges and chart pathways to improved actions for women’s rights and gender equality for sustainable development.
